Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for World Cinema at the Sundance Film Festival, this stunning political thriller is based on a true story. Just weeks before the 2011 Egyptian revolution that would eventually oust President Hosni Mubarak, Noredin Mustafa, an ordinary police officer in Cairo’s corrupt system, investigates the murder of a beautiful club singer at the Nile Hilton Hotel. When he realizes that what initially seems to be a crime of passion is something that cuts to the heart of the country’s untouchable power elite, he decides to break the rules in the name of justice, putting him on a crash course not only with the system but with himself as well.
